Since 1988, Allsail Sailing Club has been providing unique sailing, racing and training opportunities for sailors of all levels of ability who don’t own a boat.
Over the past three decades Allsail has grown to become a dominating force in Pittwater, led by an incredibly dynamic team of friendly and passionate individuals, all dedicated to making sailing fun, affordable and accessible to everyone.
Meet Our Allsail Team
Today, Allsail continues its expansion – offering Allsail members, students and charterers even more sailing, racing and training opportunities, both here in Australia and overseas.
Trent Lee is now Allsail’s new owner, taking care of the financial aspects of the business and injecting funds to further upgrade and expand our already impressive charter, club and yacht share fleet. He’s a long term member of the RPAYC, a successful businessman and a keen Pittwater sailor of long standing.
Trent started his sailing journey on Pittwater at the age of 10 in Mirror Dinghies out of BYRA becoming a NSW State Champion in Mirrors and Cole 23s. He was also a qualified sailing instructor before progressing to one design yacht racing in the Adams 10, 11 Metre OD, Etchell 22 yacht classes.
Trent will inject new life and enthusiasm into Allsail as it goes forward for members, students and charter customers.
Wren English has also come onboard as operations manager, taking care of all the everyday aspects of running the business, as well as monitoring our phones and emails to organise bookings and any other enquiries you might have.
With Trent and Wren joining the team, Allsail’s previous owners, Russell and Cherie Waddy, are still a vital part of our Allsail team. Russell and Cherie are now focusing their energies on creating even more incredible events, regattas and overseas sailing opportunities for Allsailors.
Allsail – a Pittwater Icon Since 1998
Allsail was originally established in 1988 by Mike De Berg, as a sail training and social sailing club to satisfy those who had an interest in and passion for the sea and sailing, but didn’t own a boat.
A fleet of J24s and other offshore yachts, ranging from 35 to 44 ft, provided plenty of fun and challenges for sailors, whether they were cruising Pittwater or heading into the ocean towards Hobart, Hamilton Island, New Caledonia or beyond.
In 1996, Mike established annual overseas flotillas in the Mediterranean. During the 2001 trip, Russell Waddy joined as a trainee skipper along with wife Cherie, who was delighted to embark on her first overseas sailing adventure.
In 2003, Mike passed the baton to Graham Friend, a businessman with a passion for sailing. He introduced the stunning Radford 50 Seaquest. This yacht celebrated many successes, including winning the 2005 Rolex Trophy. Graham also took Allsailers to the Caribbean for the first time.
Russell and Cherie Waddy took over Allsail in 2008, taking it to the next level and expanding the Pittwater Yacht Charter fleet before handing the business over to Trent Lee in 2022, so they could continue to focus on expanding Allsail’s regatta and overseas holidays offerings, as well as spending more time on their yacht in Greece as part of their transition to retirement.
Regattas, races and charter adventures abound!
Over the years, on Pittwater and beyond, thousands of people have learned how to sail and satisfied their sailing addiction through Allsail’s amazing collective of instructors, volunteers and passionate individuals, forming long-term friendships.
And for the last ten years the expanding Pittwater Yacht Charter fleet has seen many families and corporate groups enjoy day sailing and extended overnight cruising of the fabulous Pittwater, Broken Bay and the reaches of the Ku-ring-gai National Park.
Operating from the Ferry Wharf at Church Point on Pittwater, Allsail is a sailing, racing and training club and, with its Pittwater Yacht Charter operation, has the largest and most impressive charter and yacht share fleets on Pittwater. Also offering members and charterers overseas yachting trips to amazing locations every single year.
And we’re still expanding and upgrading the fleet!
