Sydney Sailing Courses

Sydney Sailing Courses

Allsail’s Sail Training Pathway uniquely combines the Australian Sailing beginner courses – Keelboat Crew and Helm with progression – after some “bum on boat time” practice.

The ultimate target for recreational sailors is to then be awarded the International Certificate of Competence (ICC) your international passport to sailing in Australia and many worldwide destinations.

Australian Sailing Keelboat Program

Initially as a Keelboat program beginner you will train on Allsail’s Hunter 33 – and our new generation Bavaria B/ONE and Flying Tiger 10 trainer/racers. Ideal yachts for learning. No boring classrooms at Allsail  – training is done on the yachts.

Courses run each weekend and most Fridays – and dates you attend are flexible depending on your commitments. Courses include extra club sessions so you can practise what you’ve learned. These may be on our larger yachts – maybe even join in a race!

Australian Sailing Keelboat program courses are $785. Ask about our easy pay as you learn installment plan.

Then you need some practice either with Allsail Sailing Club or elsewhere – then you can progress to our big boat courses with International Yacht Training Crew  and Bareboat Skipper courses.

Offshore and Overseas Cruises

Offshore and Overseas Cruises

Allsail conducts offshore cruises and mile makers in conjunction with various regattas for those wanting offshore miles and night sailing experience.

Allsail also hosts overseas sailing flotillas in destinations such as the Mediterranean, Phuket, the Caribbean, Canada and Tonga.

In 2018 it was the fun Bay Regatta at Phuket in February – then Greece in May/June for 14 days followed by 14 days cruising Canada’s west coast.

For 2019 we were back in Phuket (February), Croatia/Montenegro (June) and Tonga (September).

Our regatta racers got to the Bay Regatta again in February 2020 – but the Best of Greek Islands in June was postponed due to Covid-19 and restrictions on overseas travel.

Trips to Europe recommenced with the Greek Cyclades islands in June 2022 and in 2023 it’s Sicily and the Aeolian islands of Italy. Check out the Sicily Sailing Holiday 2023 flyer.

While these trips have no formal instructional goal, it is the adventure, cameraderie of the Allsail crews and experience of sailing on large luxury yachts in exotic foreign destinations that help all those that take part to become better sailors.

General Information

Gear you need:
You need sunglasses – ones that won’t fall off – sunblock cream, sweater/jacket. Just wear ordinary sports clothes such as jeans or shorts, T-shirt etc. You will need soft soled shoes that won’t slip on a wet deck (No black soles). Tennis shoes are ideal.

The yachts are all equipped with safety gear.

Where to come:
Our office is on the Ferry Wharf at Church Point. The expanded council carparking at Church Point now makes it easier but still leave plenty of time to park, particularly on Sundays. The Council carparks are about 100 metres from our office or stop in the 5 minute zone outside – drop off your gear and ask us for alternatives.

Terms and Cancellation Policy
All sailing is subject to weather and other safety considerations. We have to book skippers, instructors and yachts in advance for courses, events and regattas. As such strict cancellation conditions must apply as per our full Terms and Conditions.
